Product is amazing, the delivery service needs to be changed. Had issues in receiving the product. Once received was not hard to install and we enjoy them very much. Would recommend to family and friends
I recently built a metal building with two sections and decided that I needed heat and air. I didn't want to spend the amount required to have a HVAC company install one. I heard about DIY mini splits and thought that as a good option as I am capable of taking on this type of project. The price was fair; the equipment seemed to meet expectations; and the installation was relatively easy. The startup was a little rocky but was worked out. There are/were a couple of things that are/were irritants. The thermostat is far from accurate and I suppose based on the location that would be expected. The other irritant was that the system ended up being low on freon so I obtained some R410A and added to bring suction pressure back up to proper operating range. I don't know if this was an install issue or whether the pre-charged line(s) were not fully charged. I'm just glad it was something I could take care of without calling out a HVAC guy. I will mention one other thing. I had an electrical question with regards to the prope wire gauge to use and breaker (I found two different answers for this unit). I reveived answer back withing 12 hours which was unexpected. Overall, I would purvhase again.
I am hoping to revise it soon. It left Seattle and is still in transit. Very excited to get it.
MRCOOL DIY 4th Gen Multi-Zone 2-Zone 18,000 BTU 21 SEER (9K + 12K) Ductless Mini-Split Air Conditioner and Heat Pump
Thank you for requesting feedback on my new mini-split. It appears to be working very well and is a welcome addition to my garage. My only issue is with the installation instructions and received hardware. The instructions for connecting the communication cable between the inside and outside units is inadequate. This is due to actual wire colors which did not match those identified in the instructions, nor were the wires individually labeled. I called for technical assistance/clarification but the individual assisting me, although very courteous, was not able to clarify this for me. The relevant instruction was to connect the numbered terminals on each unit with the corresponding number on the other unit. Wire color (or numbering if present) is just a tool to facilitate doing this.
Nowhere in the instructions does it show where to hook up the signal/ thermostat wires for the factory thermostat.
Also no instructions for precharged lines in manual.
Instructions for thermostat useless.
PS to my earlier review, I failed to mention that when I installed the electrical to the unit, one of the terminal block lugs was stripped. I contacted Chill & MrCool & they responded in a very timely manner, reviewed my issue & sent me a new terminal block right away. I was impressed with their customer support.
I have bought a total of 9 Mini Splits from chillminisplits.com. They are very responsive and very fast when it comes to shipping the product I am very pleased with the overall service and support that I have referred several people to them and they said the same thing. I am pleased with all my units and will continue to refer friends and use them for all the projects I have coming up. The Chill team is AWESOME!!! Thanks again
MRCOOL DIY 4th Gen Multi-Zone 2-Zone 48,000 BTU 21 SEER (24K + 24K) Ductless Mini-Split Air Conditioner and Heat Pump
I ordered a pretty straight forward order. A 3 zone DIY mini split. In total 9 components were ordered: one condenser, 3 wall units, 3 condenser lines and 2 outdoor mount pads. And of those 9 components 4 simply did not arrive and 1 arrived obviously damaged. Now I’m trying to convince customer service that they need to make me whole. It’s their reputation…THEY should be the ones insisting that I be made whole. I’m asking nothing more than to get the order I paid for or issue me a refund
MRCOOL 3/8 No-Vac Coupler + 3/4 No-Vac Coupler for Universal & Central Ducted Quick Connect Line Set
ended up not needing my order, but it was shipped fast and complete. In the middle of a return now, which is kind of slow, but everyone has been somewhat responsive.
While I thought the main Mr Cool products were generally great and easy to install, my order was missing all the accessories I ordered/paid for. It seems there's some issue between the ordering system and warehouse/shipping/packing. I ordered 2x thermostats, a disconnect box, and electrical whip, all of which were forgotten with the big pallet that was shipped. Customer support fixed the problem but took 10 days to resolve and wound up buying the electrical parts from a local hardware store instead. Hope they work out the issue!
I ordered couplers in a line extension from them and then realizing I did not need it at the end I started a return. If completely unopened you get the lowest restocking fee. Everything has went well with the return so far!
We just installed 2 DIY 36k btu multi zone systems. Both systems have 3 air handlers one has 2 9k wall units and 1 12k ceiling cassette the other has 3 9k wall mounts. Both systems are not cooling and after approximately 20-30 minutes give the PC03 error.. during install we noticed that every line connection bottoms out on the threads before being able to achieve the required torque value. We contacted tech support and were told as long as no threads were showing the seal would hold. It looks like we will need an hvac tech to come and charge the refrigerant and possibly change all the fittings.
