Rebates & incentives

Your utility may pay you back for this upgrade

Many utilities and several states run rebate programs for high-efficiency heat pumps. Programs change often and vary by ZIP code — here's how to capture yours.

Check your programs

Look up your ZIP in the ENERGY STAR rebate finder, or send it to us and we'll check what's active near you.

Pick a qualifying system

Utility programs usually favor ENERGY STAR and high-SEER2 heat pumps — most systems we sell qualify.

File with your receipt

Most rebates are a simple post-purchase form. We'll send the spec sheets and documentation you need.

Amounts shown are maximums; actual savings depend on income, household size, utility, and program rules. Some programs require installation by a licensed or participating contractor and/or specific equipment efficiency ratings. Rebate data by Rewiring America. Not tax or legal advice — verify with the program before purchase. Questions? Call us at (888) 231-8920.

Good to know

Mini split questions, answered

What size mini split do I need?

Mini splits are sized in BTUs. As a quick rule, plan on 20–30 BTU per square foot — roughly 12,000 BTU for a 500 sq ft space. Ceiling height, sun exposure, and insulation shift the number, so use the size estimator above or send us your room sizes and we'll spec it for free.

Can I really install a DIY mini split myself?

Yes. MRCOOL DIY systems ship with pre-charged, quick-connect line sets, so there's no vacuum pump and no refrigerant license involved. If you can mount a TV and drill one 3-inch hole, you can handle the install. We do recommend a licensed electrician for the dedicated circuit and disconnect.

Do mini splits heat and cool?

Every system we sell is a heat pump, so it cools in summer and heats in winter — far more efficiently than baseboards or older furnaces. In sub-freezing climates, look at Hyper Heat models, which keep heating well below 0°F.

How much does DIY installation save?

Professional mini split installation is often quoted at $1,500–$3,000+ per zone depending on your market. With a DIY system that labor stays in your pocket — most customers finish a single zone in a weekend with basic tools.

How fast is shipping — and what should I check at delivery?

In-stock systems ship quickly with free curbside freight delivery, typically arriving in about 4–10 days. Before you sign, give every box a quick once-over and note any damage on the delivery receipt — that keeps any freight claim painless.

What about warranty and rebates?

As an authorized dealer, every system we ship carries its full manufacturer warranty — just register it after installation. Many local utilities also offer heat pump rebates; our team can help you find what applies in your area.
