MRCOOL Mini Split System Guide: Which System is Right for You?

MRCOOL makes a variety of different mini split ac systems so trying to decide the right one to pick can be very time consuming. The good news is, no matter the size of space, they have the system for you.

Here is a breakdown of all the mini split ac systems that MRCOOL carries. Let’s start off with the single zone DIY systems. They are popular for workshops, garages, warehouses, and other single rooms.

Single Zone DIY Mini Splits

The single zone DIY units come in a variety of different sizes including 9,000, 12,000, 18,000, 24,000, and 36,000 BTU systems. They come with a condenser, air handler, pre charged line sets, and everything else you need to install it.

Your 9k or 12k systems are good for cooling and heating smaller spaces from 100 to 500 sq ft in size like a bedroom or garage. The 18k - 36k units will cool or heat spaces from 750 to 1500 sq ft. Check out the size guide below to see which size is right for your space.

2 Zone DIY Mini Splits

Next on the list are the MRCOOL DIY 2 Zone systems and are designed for two separate rooms or areas. They also come in a variety of sizes to fit your home, office, or warehouse.

As a DIY or do it yourself mini split system, you can install it without professional assistance. When you buy, the package includes everything needed for setup including pre-charged line sets, quick connect fittings, and communication wires, and can be installed with basic hand tools.

It has an energy-efficient rating of 21-23 SEER, featuring an inverter-driven compressor that adjusts cooling output according to the specific temperature requirements of each zone. Below is what one looks like. Notice how it has 2 air handlers (where the air blows out) so you can put one in each room.

3 Zone DIY Mini Splits

Very similar to the 2 zone mini splits but are for 3 spaces or rooms instead of 2. These are great for families that want to keep separate rooms at different temperatures. Use the size guide above for the single zone systems to figure out which size condenser you need for each room or space. You can explore 3 zone mini split systems here.

4 Zone DIY Mini Splits

You guessed it! These are just like the 2 zone or 3 zone mini split systems but are for 4 spaces! Great for homes with 3 bedrooms (one in the family room, and one for each bedroom). They have all the same selling points including the ease of installation, solid warranty, and are energy efficient. View MRCOOL 4 Zone mini splits here.

They also come in a 5 zone system, but I think you get the point by now. Let’s move on to some of their other models.

MRCOOL Easy Pro

These systems are similar to the other DIY mini splits but are designed for ease of install and come with a 16ft pre-charged lineset and all the other items you need. They have “quick connect” fittings that make installing it quite simple. You can explore easy pro systems here. Here is what one looks like:

MRCOOL Advantage

The MRCOOL 4th generation Advantage Series mini split air conditioners have an efficiency rating up to 17.5 SEER and are competitively priced. The difference between the Advantage and other mini split systems is the fact that a professional needs to install the Advantage. They also don’t come with pre-charged line sets but are cheaper in price overall compared to the other DIY systems..

They provide maximum comfort and are designed to heat and cool spaces in no time. This system also comes with a 16 ft. install kit that includes a 100% copper line set. Both the wall mounted air handler and the condenser operate quietly for your comfort while also being eco-friendly, with chlorine-free R-410A refrigerant. Here is what they look like:

MRCOOL Universal

The next one isn't a mini split but is still a solid choice. The MRCOOL Universal represents the latest and most popular advancement in central split air conditioner systems. This innovative system offers impressive efficiency with a SEER rating of 17-20 and comes with a reassuring 10-year warranty.

These systems differ from mini splits and are designed to cool or heat the entire home through a network of ducts. This ensures even temperature distribution throughout all rooms, making it ideal for larger homes or those seeking uniform comfort in every area. Here is what one looks like:

MRCOOL Versa Pro

This is the latest and greatest model, coming into production in 2024. This also is not a mini split, and rather a central ducted unit but figured it was good to know as an option if it works for you. The new MRCOOL VersaPro Central Ducted Heat Pump System, with a DC inverter, guarantees great operation and reduced utility costs. The convenience of installation is further enhanced by the inclusion of a 25-foot quick connect fitting. This too, is a great option.

Conclusion

Well, we have come to the end of our list mr cool mini split options (we even discussed some of the central ducted) systems. I hope this helps you decide which MRCOOL unit is best for you and your needs. All are great options, it just depends on what you are looking for.
