After doing quite a bit of research on DIY mini-split systems, MrCool consistently came out on top. I was looking for a 2-zone system that could be expanded to 3 zones in the future. One thing I quickly learned is that ordering all the correct components can get a bit confusing. Fortunately, Chill Mini Splits made that process much easier with their website.

The only disappointment was the shipping time. The website indicated about one week, but it ultimately took two. Since this was a freight shipment, I was also a little concerned about the delivery experience, but the shipping company was excellent. They worked with me to schedule a delivery day that fit my schedule.

I reached out to Chill Mini Splits with a question during the process, and they responded within one business day, which I consider very good customer service.

For the installation, I highly recommend watching a few YouTube videos beforehand, but don't skip the written instructions. There are several important details covered in the manual that aren't mentioned in most videos.

One suggestion for MrCool: create a comprehensive installation video. It would make the installation process much easier and would probably help sell more systems.

As for the installation itself, it took my son and me about nine hours from start to finish. We took plenty of water breaks because it was an extremely hot day. We're both fairly handy, and I wouldn't describe any individual step as difficult. There are simply a lot of steps, and it's important to complete them in the correct order.

We've been using the system for about a week now, and I honestly have no complaints. The units cool extremely well, and the mobile app is definitely worth installing. Being able to control the system remotely is a great feature.

My biggest suggestion to MrCool would be to offer more refrigerant line length options. In my installation, one indoor air handler is located almost directly above the outdoor condenser, but the shortest pre-charged line set available was 12 feet. As a result, I had to coil a significant amount of excess line behind the unit. It works fine, but you'll definitely want to plan ahead for how you'll hide or protect the extra line set. I'm also planning to add additional protection for the exposed lines.

Overall, I'm extremely happy with both the purchase and the system's performance. In fact, I'm already considering adding the third zone much sooner than I originally planned because we've been so pleased with how well everything works.

Overall Rating: 5/5. Excellent product, straightforward installation for a capable DIYer, and a great value. Just be prepared to spend some time planning the installation and managing any excess line set.

My husband was able to set up our system (1 condenser unit w/ 3 wall units) in approximately 2 days all by himself. Fairly easy, if you’re somewhat handy! The mini splits themselves are basically silent and SO efficient with the cold air. We could not be happier!!!!

Bought this unit because it got very good reviews. I purchased from chill because they had great reviews and a great price. The only negative I have is that the installation instructions are terrible. Once I finally used ai to solve some.imstallayion issues all went well and the unit works even.betyer then I expected. Would highly recommend unit and chill.

The Mrcool air conditioner was easy to install if you follow the instructions and you are not installing on a second floor. Once installed the unit worked perfectly.

I got the 12k unit, install was very easy and the unit is working great and keeping the room cool. It helps the main central unit not have to work as hard. Real happy with it so far.

Makes the line set look better, easy to install instructions but installing on brick is kind of difficult.

Nice unit and easy to install with good skills and the right tools. Nothing elaborate...Drill with 2.5” hole saw, bubble level, proper size wrenches, misc. hand tools and some latex caulk. I did purchase separately the line set channel, electrical disconnect to meet local code and ¾ pvc for condensate drain. Although the kit gives you mounting screws, I used lag bolts for my indoor unit mounting. I used the channel and the pvc for installation and aesthetic purposes. The pre-charged lines are nice eliminating the need for evacuation. From start to finish the installation took just under 5 hours. I still need to complete my permanent electrical power (picture shows temporary electrical power). The unit runs very quiet and I do like the features. What I am not a fan of is the Communication to the App. The unit only communicates at 2.5Ghz. I have split my home network into two; 5GHz and 2.5Ghz and still cannot connect. I followed all the steps in the tutorial. It seems I have spent more time on that than the while install. That is my only complaint with the product as the App is supposed to have more features available than the remote. Otherwise, I have recommended the product to friends.

We are excited that this unit has made our 3 season porch more usable.

The pre-charged lines allowed us to install this heat pump with no special equipment. They seem to be well designed and work as intended. A torque wrench is recommended to make sure that you get these just tight enough.

Arrived promptly. All necessary components were included, electrical, drain line, everything. Couldn't be happier!

This unit and line-set cover is absolutely perfect! The DIY aspect of it is so simple! I’m so excited about my DIY install on my garage I may add it into an upcoming video! Lineset cover is extremely easy to install and work with. Extremely happy with the finished product! Only thing I wish I got was a shirt!

I received my unit in a timely manner. The install seemed to be very easy for my HVAC contractor. It cools and heats very well. I’m still learning but the controls and settings are very user friendly. The condensing unit is very quiet. I would recommend this product.
